Maori Language Week Awards - Nga Tohu Wiki Reo Maori

Maori Language Week Awards 2006 In 2004 Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori – the Maori Language Commission – began the Maori Language Awards as a way of celebrating Maori Language Week.

The Awards recognise the efforts of community organisations, schools, businesses, the media and government bodies to promote and use reo Maori during Maori Language Week.

Each year the awards look at the ways groups within these categories have used the language during the week. The award winners are announced on Maori Language Day (September 14).

As Maori Language Week draws near (usually around the end of July) the theme and categories will be announced here.

The archived webcast of the Awards ceremony can be viewed here.

You do need Windows Media Player - Version 7 and above - to be able to view the webcast. Update information is available here
